What kind of music should I use during the fashion show for Filipino clothing?

Worried_about_car asked:

I need suggestions. The clothes will be the traditional Filipino clothes (Maria Clara, Terno, Barong Tagalog). We need some upbeat, fast music to play, but I have no idea what. Please suggest.

If you can please give the Title, artist, etc. What did you use during your fashion show?

I would suggest something classy like native folk music or light Pinoy rock and roll songs. Some of the classic upbeat disco music I think would also work well. The group ABBA comes to mind.

I would stay away from the rap music. It’s usually played too loud and I personally find most of the lyrics offensive. It will attract allot of the younger crowd, but your target market should be the older professionals that has money to actually buy your clothes.

You should envision the fashion show as an exciting and an interesting event so you should use modern catchy music. The 1st suggestion was good about the song “Bebot” by Blackeyed Peas. You can aslo use LL Cool J’s or Eminems songs but without the voice but just the beat. Try Trance music also. It should be modern and cool. Goodluck

The University of Santo Tomas Singers sing some good ole traditional Filipino songs in a most excellent fashion. Search for UST-Singers.

I’m listening to it right now and i can imagine that it would be great for a “Filipinyana” fashion show.
Anyway, it’s very common, i often hear it in most of the fashion shows i’ve seen.

How about jazz music by local artists?
Or:
Fantasia by Pavlo music duration about 46 minutes,
Gipsy by Gipsy

Both of these feature guitar prowess.

I love music by Edru Abraham - it’s filipino ethnic. Look him up at the internet. Tsaka hindi common ang music niya. Once I also heard a recording of the Philippine Philarmonic, but I don’t know if they have a CD - please ask the Cultural Center or NCCA.

buy a cd entitle gregorian chant. i think , they already have 3 albums now, try to check their repertoire, it has something you could use for your fashion show. I like their way of singing “loosing my religion”.

You are showing classic Filipino clothing? Then use classic Filipino songs. “Ang Dalagang Filipina” comes to mind but I’m sure you can find other native tunes. For this particular occasion, please don’t use American songs, OK?

you should try the song of ryan cayabyab the” limang dipang tao” and “mamang kutsero”. its really catchy. ryan cayabyab is a filipino professional singer.if you really want to captivate the older professionals you should try to ask him to sing at your show.
